Mary Jones Pilgrim Centre tells her story, and the story of her legacy.

In 1800, after saving money for 6 years, a 15-year-old girl called Mary Jones walked 26 miles from Llanfihangel-y-Pennant to Bala to buy a Bible, a book she’d been longing to own for years. Her journey inspired the establishment of British and Foreign Bible Society.

Mary Jones Pilgrim Centre is a visitor and education centre that tells the story of both Mary Jones and Thomas Charles, who was one of the founding members of British and Foreign Bible Society. The centre also explores the impact of the world’s bestselling book on both Wales and the world.

Step back in time, follow Mary’s journey, and explore what happened next through multimedia and interactive displays, exhibits and activities.

Located on the edge of Llyn Tegid in a redeveloped Grade 2 listed building, the Mary Jones Pilgrim Centre with its picnic area, children’s playground and facilities, offers a great day out for children and adults.
