There’s some excellent Bala walking routes available for all abilities
Bala is a veritable Mecca for walkers and there’s lots of Bala walking routes to choose from. There’s a range of walks to suit everyone, from families to experienced hill-walkers.
For families: take part in a treasure hunt or enjoy one of the many all-ability trails suitable for pushchairs and scenic walks of various distances. Or just take a walk to the lake.
For those with an interest in history and culture: heritage walks, including the Town Trail, the Mary Jones Walk and the Betsi Cadwaladr Trail, are perfect for taking in the local history while getting some steps in.
For everyone: Scenic walks with wonderful views will appeal to many. Walking around the lake is a highlight of the area. For a shorter walk along the lake use the Bala Lake Railway - a “must-do” with children.
For the experienced hill-walker: there are mountains almost touching 3,000 ft, classic ridge walking and much more, all with views and without the crowds. The highlights include Arenig Fawr and the Aran ridge. More information can be found on the Mountain Walks website.
